Sri Lanka Telecom connects Sri Lanka to the SEA-ME-WE 5 submarine cable at Matara

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has connected Sri Lanka to the SEA-ME-WE 5 digital fibre optic submarine cable system using 400G technology with 48 Tbps bandwidth capacity. SLT as invested over Rs.5.2 billion (USD 40 million) for this project. The core system of the SEA-ME-WE 5  spans from Singapore to France & Italy. 
SLT has connected SEA-ME_WE 5 submarine cable through a landing station in Matara in Southern Sri Lanka. All other submarine cables landing stations in Sri Lanka are located in Colombo and Mt, Lavina.

Dialog Ultra High Speed 100G-Plus Submarine Cable Connection to Sri Lanka

Dialog Axiate connected Sri Lanka to the Ultra High Capacity 100G-PLUS Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) Submarine Fibre Optic Cable via its state-of-the-art Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Mount Lavinia (South Colombo). Dialog has invested over Rs.5 Billion (US$34 million) for this submarine cable project. The new submarine cable will provide over 6.4 Terrabits Per Second (Tbps) of international bandwidth to Sri Lanka.Alongside Dialog Axiata, the BBG cable is co-owned by a  tier-1 global telecom operators including Vodafone, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Telekom Malaysia, Etisalat Group and Omantel.
